After ANKOSLink 2013;

The ANKOSLink 2013 Conference was conducted with more than 500 participants at the Maritim Congress Center 25th - April 27th, 2013. I would like to thank all the participants, all companies and their representatives, especially the main sponsors Mikrobilgi and ANKAREF, who generously contributed to the meeting at a pivotal time in our history, as we moved to a new format with new kinds of content. This event was a milestone for ANKOS. The ANKOS Steering Committee has set a new goal in taking global developments, Turkey's economic performance, and many other factors into consideration. This goal is about the internationalization of ANKOSLink conferences and making it a valuable brand in the field of librarianship and information services. Feedback about the conference received through face-to-face interviews, questionnaires, e-mails or phone calls have been very encouraging in terms of carrying on in this new direction at upcoming meetings. Forty-seven domestic and foreign firms had the opportunity to meet with attendees at their stands at the conference. In this respect, the ANKOSLink 2013 Conference offered a unique social and professional communication platform for all parties involved. During the Conference, 60 company presentations, one project presentation, four panels, one seminar, one ANKOS presentation and one workshop were completed. The invited speaker, Mr. Emin Sadık Aydin, Head of the Ministry of Development of Information Society, provided insight about "Turkey's Science Policy towards 2023”.  Aydin completed his speech with an open call to ANKOS for their active contribution to Turkey's "Information Society Strategy Renewal Project". This call is extremely important in terms of showing the value that ANKOS has to offer. Conference presentations, including Mr. Aydın’s, can be found at www.ankoslink.org.tr. This year 517 people participated in the Conference. The figure is very close to the targeted participation and is promising for conferences in coming years. Lastly, on behalf of the Steering Committee I would like to thank all ANKOS volunteers who worked with dedication before, during and after the Conference.
